Self -Sabotage

 Self -Sabotage

By: Kori McKenna

Perhaps you are not familiar with the term "self-sabotage." This was a new word for me not too long ago. Until I learned this word, I didn't know I was doing it to myself! Turns out a lot of people do it! Are you guilty of it?

Self-sabotage is the self behaviors and thought patterns that hold you back and prevent you from doing what you want. Many times this behavior stops us from completing our dreams! It is a complicated mindset to get yourself out of. When I realized that I was self-sabotaging myself, I immediately started to fix the problem. You have to take responsibility to achieve your goals.

There's an endless amount of ways that we self-sabotage ourselves. We procrastinate, don't prepare, spend time doing stuff that doesn't benefit us, and worrying about things or problems that we don't need to. We behave like this because we fear the loss of control and not knowing the unknown if we decide to take steps towards our dreams. We may not believe in ourselves or have confidence. Maybe we fear judgment, or we are scared to fail. When we have this mindset, we act accordingly which limits our success, limits what we are capable of, and then we fail to follow our dreams and goals.

How do you know if you're self-sabotaging yourself, and how do you fix it? You will have to do some soul searching and overcome your fears and problems and find solutions. This can take a while. It took many different stages of healing, accepting, and so forth for myself & it took my whole life until where I am now to get past my self-sabotage. The best thing you can do is recognize when you are doing it and stopping it immediately!

Keep motivation and make yourself a priority. Believe in yourself and stop acting in behaviors that limit YOU. Boost your confidence; defeat your negative actions and thoughts. Talk positively to yourself and manifest your achievements. You can do this by talking about them as if they have already happened, or you can give yourself motivational words to support yourself. Everything starts with you, and no one is going to help you as you help yourself. Lastly, accept failure and keep going; it happens to us all! Shine Bright! We only got one life to live, so live it!

Diary of Psoriasis: My Experience Tracker Pt.1

Diary of Psoriasis: My Experience Tracker Pt.1 By: Kori McKenna In this photo, if you look closely, you can see my hairline has "snowflakes."   This is the first time I have talked about my battle journey with psoriasis, eczema, and similar skin conditions. My first struggle with skin conditions started with scalp psoriasis when I was a child. I also had many skin rashes growing up. Now I am in my mid 20's, and I have scalp psoriasis, rashes, and eczema.      When I went to the doctor as a child, they gave me Head and Shoulder shampoo, which did not keep my scalp psoriasis at bay. Sometimes my scalp would go into remission, but that is a rare occasion that comes and goes. There is no cure for psoriasis.      Recently I went to the doctor as a young adult(Age 23), and they prescribed me three topical medications. The doctor says I have Seboherroic Dermatitis on the front of my scalp, face, and inside my ears; then I have plaques of psoriasis on the sides and back of my sc

Five Ways To Beat Depression

Five Ways To Beat Depression By: Kori McKenna Depression gets the best of everyone at some point. Here are some tips to help get you out of the funk. This is especially helpful as seasonal depression is at its peak this time of the year. 1. Give yourself something to look forward to. At points, this is hard when there might not be anything to look forward to. I say, make something happen so you can find hope or enjoyment in something, even if it's something small.   2. There will never be a perfect time, so it's time to complete dreams, goals, and hobbies that you have put on hold. It's good to have your best interest in mind and start working on yourself.  3. It takes time and practice to get out of depression. If you have fallbacks, it is essential to keep a positive mindset and quickly move forward from setbacks. Resilience and consistency will boost your confidence and help keep you out of depressions.  4.  We have to learn to let go of things we can not control. Take
